Masters of Horror

Issue #1 Release Date: December 2005

Thirteen of the greatest minds of the horror genre have gathered to tell their darkest dreams in their own unique styles in a new Showtime series. Each one-hour film is a stand-alone exercise in terror from the likes of Romero, Carpenter, Landis, Argento, and many others. And now, IDW presents a year-long exploration of these chilling movies. Up first is the two-part “Incident On and Off a Mountain Road,” originally written by Joe R. Lansdale and adapted for Showtime by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, Bubba Ho-Tep). Ellen, a seemingly defenseless young woman, is lost in the woods and comes into contact with the deformed, demented serial killer Moonface. But Ellen isn’t as helpless or innocent as she initially seems…this special debut issue, adapted for comics by IDW’s Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall (Shaun of the Dead) and Jeremy Haun (Desperadoes: Banners of Gold) will feature covers from Masters of Horror conceptual artist Caniglia.

Meanwhile, issues 3 and 4, beginning in March '06, present an all-new horrific, two-part storyline! In “Dreams in the Witch-House,” writer Ivan Brandon (NYC Mech), artist Dennis Calero (TBD), and cover artist Ben Templesmith adapt horror master H.P. Lovecraft’s classic tale, as envisioned by director Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) and his co-writer, Dennis Paoli. In tale, a college student studying interdimensional string theory is haunted by terrifying nightmares where he’s visited by a 17th century witch and her familiar, a rat with a human face. Only, these aren’t dreams at all…

MATURE READERS. Most of these books are recommended for readers over the age of 18. We can't be responsible for nightmares these books might cause those under 18... or over, for that matter.

The critically acclaimed FALLEN ANGEL makes its triumphant return to comics. In the first new storyline, the origin of the Fallen Angel herself has long been a shrouded mystery… until now. New York Times bestselling author and co-creator Peter David and artist J.K. Woodward keep Bete Noire alive and thriving.

A 12-part adaptation of master of horror Clive Barker's epic journey into the fantastic begins in March. Adapted by the creative team of George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, Chris Ryall and artist Gabriel Rodriguez.

Silent Hill: Dead/Alive

Imagine you are eight years old, undead and pure evil. Writer Scott Ciencin and artist Nick Stakal team up once again to return to Silent Hill for this new five-part miniseries.

Cobb

Beau Smith’s latest creation explodes onto the scene in April! Aided by fellow comics legend Eduardo Barreto, Smith creates a tough guy for the new millennium in the form of Frank Cobb...
