IDW Nominated for 7 Harvey Awards

Peer-nominated
awards recognize IDW creators and books
Yesterday, the
2009 Harvey Award nominees were released, and IDW was prominent
in the ranks. Conceived to "recognize outstanding work in comics
and sequential art," the Awards are open to all creative
professionals, who are invited to nominate their peers.
Our fellow creators have honored IDW with seven nominations,
including two for Scorchy Smith and
the Art of Noel Sickles and for The
Dreamer, plus three Best Domestic Reprint

Nominated for Best
Domestic Reprint and Best Biographical, Historical or
Journalistic Presentation, Scorchy Smith is a
comprehensive, 352-page volume that collects, for the first time,
every Scorchy Smith strip, the groundbreaking 1930s aviation
adventure series by Noel Sickles. Edited and designed by
Dean Mullaney, Scorchy Smith also
features extensive DVD-style extras examining Sickles's life and
the decades-long influence of his work, while showcasing the
breadth of his career as one of America's foremost magazine
illustrators.
All-around talent Lora Innes's The
Dreamer, about a girl who finds adventure and more in her
vivid dreams, was nominated for both Best New Series and
Best New Talent, a
great pairing for Innes.
Thom Zahler was nominated for Best Cartoonist for his work
in Love and Capes, a real-life love story with a superhero
twist.
IDW's tenth-anniversary edition of Astounding Space
Thrills was honored with a Best Domestic Reprint
nomination. The book features the first-ever reprint of rare early
issues, plus a gallery of amazing art from by many legendary
artists.
Celebrating the centennial of cartoonist Milton
Caniff's birth, IDW released the six-book series,
Terry and the Pirates, collecting the entirety of Caniff's
groundbreaking newspaper adventure strip, which was also nominated
for Best Domestic
Reprint.
IDW would like to congratulate all the nominees! The winners will
be announced at the Harvey Award dinner during Baltimore Comic Con
