Gil Kane’s The Amazing Spider-Man Artist’s Edition Coming in November!
Friday, Jul 13th, 2012
IDW Publishing and Marvel Comics present their fourth Artist’s Edition together, GIL KANE'S THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: ARTIST'S EDITION.
Collecting Kane’s work on The Amazing
Spider-Man issues 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, and 121,
these are some of the most memorable and important Spider-Man
stories of the era. Included in this volume is the infamous LSD
storyline that ran without the Comics Code Authority, the six-arm
storyline that also introduced Morbius, the Living Vampire, and the
classic of classics, “The Night Gwen Stacy Died.”
“These Spider-Man stories by Gil Kane are the ones my
generation grew up on,” said Special Projects Editor
Scott Dunbier, “The ones we read and reread
until they fell apart. Now we can look at them with a fresh eye and
see these stories as we never have before.”
Gil Kane is regarded as one of the defining
artists of the Silver Age of Comics, a sequential storyteller of
the finest order. Highlights of his 50-plus year career include
co-creating the Silver Age Green Lantern and
Atom, the groundbreaking His Name is…
Savage and Blackmark… plus, of course, his
Amazing run on Spider-Man!
What is an Artist’s Edition? Artist’s Editions are printed the same size as the original art. While appearing to be in black & white, each page has been scanned in COLOR to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art—for example, you are able to clearly see paste-overs, blue pencils in the art, editorial notes, art corrections. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board.
GIL KANE'S THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: ARTIST'S EDITION HC (216 pages, B&W, $125) will be in stores November 21st, 2012.
