Celebrates 100th anniversary of classic strip
San Diego, CA (April 13, 2010) - Famed comics historian and creator
Craig Yoe and IDW Publishing are proud to offer an
homage to the celebrated creation of great George
Herriman with a brand new hardcover collection,
Krazy & Ignatz in Tiger Tea.
Written and illustrated by Herriman, historians
note that Krazy Kat was first beaned by Ignatz on July 26, 1910 at
the bottom of another strip, before getting their own exclusive
strip in 1913. This year is the centennial anniversary of Krazy and
Ignatz making head banging an art form, and is also the Chinese
"Year of the Tiger." Appropriately, Krazy & Ignatz
in Tiger Tea features the very best of the infamous
1936 "Tiger Tea" episodes, in which Krazy and the other citizens of
Coconino County drink a psychedelia-inducing substance, and dreamy
tempests in the teapots are a result!
funny looking
cigarette, a perfect addition to this fun, classic trip down memory
lane, with the accent on the trip! All this is introduced by
Paul Krassner, the founder and editor in the
heady, hazy, hippie 1960's of the iconoclastic
anti-establishment magazine, The Realist.Krazy & Ignatz in Tiger Tea is the latest book from the IDW imprint, YOE Books, edited, designed and written by Yoe, winner of both an Eisner Award and the Society of Illustrator's Gold Medal. Coming next from YOE Books is Dan DeCarlo's Jetta, available in stores on April 14th and collecting all the comics of the "Teen-Age Sweetheart of the 21st Century" for the first time. Vice Magazine has deemed Yoe "The Indiana Jones of Comics Historians."
Yoe is available for interviews regarding this and other books.
