SELL-OUT ON AISLE FOUR!

IDW Publishing’s Supermarket Sells Out And Heads Back To Press

San Diego, CA (March 28, 2006)—Brian Wood’s latest comic venture, his first title with IDW Publishing, has been a smash hit, with issues one and two selling out despite an aggressive overprinting stance on the part of the publisher.

Issue one of the four-part SUPERMARKET, which features lush, powerful artwork and colors from artist Kristian Donaldson, debuted in February and was met with wide acclaim by critics and fans alike. The issue quickly sold out, despite the fact that the title’s initial orders were overprinted by 30%.

Issue two, which was released to comics shops this week, is also sold out through Diamond. As a result, IDW is going back to press on both issues. As an added bonus, the second printings will each feature a new wraparound cover from artist Donaldson, both of which make up one large Supermarket poster image.

In the future world of Supermarket, legitimate and black-market economies rule the City, overseen by the vying factions of the Yakuza and Porno Swede crime families. Convenience store clerkette and 16-year-old suburban wise-ass Pella Suzuki suddenly finds herself in the middle of it all, heir to an empire she couldn't possibly inherit, but hitmen on both sides aren't taking any chances. Co-created and written by Eisner-nominated writer Brian Wood (Demo, DMZ, The Couriers), Supermarket is anti-consumerism with a healthy dose of violence and humor.

Both issues are full-color, 32-page comics with a cover price of $3.99.
