Gabriel Rodriguez is a Chilean comic book artist and illustrator. He started his career with myth-based illustrations for card games, and then in 2002, jumped into the world of professional comics working with IDW Publishing for several CSI: Crime Scene Investigation miniseries. Working primarily with the San Diego-based publisher ever since, his past projects include Clive Barker’s The Great and Secret Show, Beowulf, George Romero’s Land Of The Dead as well as covers for Angel, Transformers, Star Trek/Green Lantern, TMNT/Batman Animated, Clue, and more.
In 2007, he co-created with novelist Joe Hill the acclaimed, award-winning series Locke & Key (currently in development as a TV series by IDW Entertainment). He continued developing creator-owned projects in very different directions: he revisited Windsor McCay's Slumberland with writer Eric Shanower with their own update, the Eisner-winning Little Nemo: Return To Slumberland and then with IDW’s Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall, co-created the gritty sci-fi adventure miniseries, Onyx.
Gabriel again partnered with Joe Hill in 2016 for the comic adaptation of Hill’s teleplays for a new version of the classic TV series, Tales from The Darkside, as well as a new Locke & Key short story, Small World. His current project is Sword of Ages, a fantasy-adventure series he is creating, writing and drawing. Sword is slated to make its debut in late 2017.
Gabriel has been exclusive to IDW since 2014. He currently lives in Santiago with his beloved wife Catalina and their kids, Jose Manuel, Matias, and Gabriel.
